SHIATSU THERAPY

Shiatsu is a Japanese word and literally means 'finger pressure'. It is the sister therapy to acupuncture, and works in much the same way in that it stimulates certain points on the body and will stimulate the body to heal itself and increase health. Shiatsu works along the meridian lines within the body; each meridian links to the internal organs

Shiatsu works on many levels to assist the horse. It can help with physical, behavioural and emotional problems. I have witnessed complete positive character changes in some of the horses that I have worked with, particularly nervous or timid horses. It can help with problems where stiffness or uneveness is apparent, choppy movement or inability to go forward or flex at the poll

Shiatsu is a non invasive gentle therapy where results can generaly be seen fairly rapidly.

Shiatsu Therapy for Horses
Know Yourself and Your Horse Better Through Shiatsu - Pamela Hannay
A truly superb book for the practitioner or interested novice alike. The book covers a lot more depth than 'Touching Horses' and evolves from a much deeper spiritual slant. This assists us in working with the horse on a much more profound level.
